I have been in the steel business for over 50 years, first 20 years in China and the last 30 years in the USA. My personal experience gave me a rare opportunity to see the raising of the Chinese Steel Industry from 20 some million tons per year in 1980 to 586 Millions in 2009. During the same period of time the steel production is the USA has dropped about 50%. My job in the USA was primary selling Western Mills and other Machineries to China and other Asian Countries.

 

However in accompany with the development of Chinese Steel Industry, the capacity and technologies in China have also rapidly developed and improved. China’s heavy machinery industry and other related industries serving the steel industrial needs have become on of the tops in the world.  Starting in the 1980s, China has imported various steel making and rolling mill equipment. Clearly the engineers in China have also demonstrated their talents to absorb the advanced technologies in the world. Today China has become more and more independent in supplying all kinds of steel equipment and is capable to supply all kinds of mill equipment. It also has become a major source of OEM of the other world famous mill suppliers.

 

Today as the largest steel producer in the world, China is also the major player for the world steel. China has an old saying “Without the skin there will be no fur.”  The Downsizing and production loss of Western Steel Industry will result the diminishing of the advantages of the Western Mill suppliers and designs gradually. My experience told me the direction of the wind has changed. 

 

TTIC was a company dedicated to sell Western Technologies and Equipment but it is now the time to reverse its role to take the challenge to bring the advancement in products and services from China to other countries in the world.
